The Yiddish choir Hejmisj Zain was founded in 1992 and consists of about 45 people. We are a mixed choir without religious connotations. The coir is divided into four voice groups. It is our aim to keep the Yiddish language and culture alive. That’s why we sing primarily Yiddish songs and occasionally add songs in Hebrew or in Ladino. Our professional conductor Jules Bart time and again inspires us to try harder.

The choir rehearses every Monday evening from 20.00-22.00 in the building of the Liberal Jewish Municipality in Amsterdam. The Yiddish song is deeply rooted in the Jewish culture and history. Out of respect for this tradition we show consideration for the Sabbath and Jewish holidays.

The summer break of the choir coincides with the school holiday period.
